easy air fryer bbq ribs - featured image

A quick and simple ribs recipe using just three ingredients, cooked in an air fryer for tender, juicy ribs with a smoky BBQ flavor in under an hour.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds pork spare ribs
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (smoky variety like Sweet Baby Ray’s or Stubb’s Smokey Mesquite)
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Trim any silver skin or tough membrane from the back of the ribs and cut into 3-4 rib sections.
  2. Sprinkle smoked paprika generously over both sides of the ribs and pat it in.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Place ribs in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 12 minutes, then flip and cook for another 13 minutes.
  5. Remove ribs and brush a generous layer of BBQ sauce on both sides.
  6. Return ribs to the air fryer and cook at 400°F (205°C) for 5 to 7 minutes to caramelize the sauce.
  7. Let ribs rest wrapped loosely in foil for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

If ribs are not tender enough, add a 10-minute low-temp cook at 320°F (160°C) before the final high-heat step. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket for best crispiness. Baby back ribs can be used but reduce cooking time by 5-7 minutes. For gluten-free, verify BBQ sauce or make homemade sauce. Apply BBQ sauce only in the last 5-7 minutes to prevent burning.
