A quick and easy whipped coffee recipe that creates a creamy, frothy cappuccino-style drink in just five minutes, perfect for busy mornings or a delightful pick-me-up.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons instant coffee (recommend Folgers Classic Roast)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons hot water (freshly boiled)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk (whole milk recommended, or almond/oat milk for dairy-free)
  • Optional toppings: ground cinnamon, cocoa powder, or a splash of vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Boil 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of water. It should be hot enough to dissolve sugar and coffee but not boiling when poured over the mix.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add 2 tablespoons (10 g) of instant coffee and 2 tablespoons (25 g) of granulated sugar.
  3. Pour the hot water over the coffee and sugar mixture to start dissolving the granules.
  4. Whip the mixture vigorously with a whisk or electric mixer for about 3 to 5 minutes until it thickens, turns light caramel in color, and forms stiff peaks.
  5. Warm 1 cup (240 ml) of milk on the stove or in the microwave until hot but not boiling (around 140°F / 60°C).
  6. Pour the warm milk into a serving glass or mug.
  7. Spoon the whipped coffee foam gently over the top to create a fluffy cap.
  8. Optionally, dust with ground cinnamon, cocoa powder, or add a drop of vanilla extract for extra flavor.
  9. Enjoy immediately, stirring lightly before sipping to mix the foam with the milk.

Notes

Use instant coffee granules for best foam; brewed coffee will not whip. Granulated sugar stabilizes the foam better than powdered sugar. Warm milk is essential for the best taste and texture. Whisk vigorously until stiff peaks form. For dairy-free versions, oat milk froths better than almond milk. Foam is best enjoyed immediately as it starts to deflate after 10-15 minutes.
