Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (like Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 2 cups (480 ml) apple cider (unfiltered, cloudy preferred)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) caramel vodka
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) salted caramel sauce
  • 1 large Honeycrisp or Fuji apple, thinly sliced
  • 1 large pear (Bosc or Anjou), thinly sliced
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt (for rim and garnish)
  • Extra caramel sauce (for garnish, optional)
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs (for garnish, optional)
  • Ice cubes (if serving immediately)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Fruit: Wash the apple and pear. Cut the apple in half, core it, and slice into thin half-moons, about 1/4-inch thick. Do the same with the pear.
  2. Make the Salted Caramel Rim: Pour a thin layer of caramel sauce onto a small plate. On another small plate, spread out the flaky sea salt. Dip the rim of each glass into the caramel, then into the salt, twisting gently to coat. Set aside.
  3. Combine the Liquid Ingredients: In a large pitcher, pour the entire bottle of white wine. Add the apple cider and caramel vodka. Stir gently with a wooden spoon.
  4. Add the Caramel Sauce: Spoon in the 1/4 cup of salted caramel sauce. Stir slowly until mostly dissolved.
  5. Add the Fruit and Cinnamon: Gently drop in the apple and pear slices, followed by the cinnamon stick. Use the spoon to push the fruit down so it’s fully submerged.
  6. Chill: Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  7. Serve: Give the pitcher a gentle stir. Fill prepared glasses about 3/4 full with ice (if using), then pour the sangria, making sure to get some fruit into each glass. Top with a drizzle of extra caramel sauce and a sprig of fresh rosemary if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Don’t skip the chill time—it allows flavors to meld. Use a dry white wine to balance sweetness. Thinly slice fruit for better absorption. Best consumed within 24 hours. For a non-alcoholic version, replace wine with sparkling apple cider and omit vodka. Leftover sangria can be warmed as a cozy cocktail.
