These creamy overnight peanut butter banana oats are a quick, no-cook breakfast that tastes like dessert. With just 5 minutes of prep and simple pantry ingredients, you’ll wake up to a satisfying, naturally sweet meal that keeps you full all morning.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (50g) old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 medium ripe banana, mashed (about 1/2 cup or 120g)
  • 2 tablespoons (32g) creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk of choice (whole, oat, almond, or 2%)
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) pure maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon (12g) chia seeds
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • Optional toppings: sliced banana, extra peanut butter drizzle, cinnamon, chopped peanuts, dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Mash the banana: Peel the banana and place it in your jar or container. Use a fork to mash it until mostly smooth with a few small lumps remaining (about 30 seconds).
  2. Add the peanut butter: Spoon in 2 tablespoons of creamy peanut butter. If stiff, microwave for 10 seconds. Stir into the mashed banana until well combined.
  3. Pour in the milk: Add 1/2 cup of your chosen milk. Stir until the peanut butter and banana are fully dissolved into the milk.
  4. Add the oats, chia seeds, maple syrup, and salt: Pour in 1/2 cup rolled oats, 1 tablespoon chia seeds, 1 tablespoon maple syrup, and a pinch of salt. Stir well until all oats are coated and no dry patches remain.
  5. Mix thoroughly: Stir for a good 30 seconds, scraping the bottom and sides to evenly distribute the chia seeds.
  6. Seal and refrigerate: Put the lid on your jar and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, but overnight (8-12 hours) is best.
  7. Serve and enjoy: In the morning, stir the oats. If too thick, add a splash of milk. Top with sliced banana, a drizzle of peanut butter, cinnamon, or other toppings. Eat cold or microwave for 30-45 seconds if preferred.

Notes

Use a very ripe banana with brown spots for best sweetness and creaminess. Don’t skip the stirring before refrigerating to avoid dry patches. For thicker oats, use 1/3 cup milk; for thinner, add an extra tablespoon. Store in the fridge for up to 5 days. Do not freeze.
