Easy Patriotic Popcorn Recipe with 3 Ingredients for Perfect Party Snacks

easy patriotic popcorn recipe - featured image

A quick and festive popcorn snack featuring red, white, and blue candy melts and sprinkles, perfect for summer parties and celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 cups popped plain popcorn kernels (or pre-popped plain popcorn)
  • 8 ounces total red, white, and blue candy melts (approximately 2.5 ounces each color)
  • 1/3 cup patriotic-themed sprinkles (stars, dots, or mini confetti in red, white, and blue)

Instructions

  1. Pop the popcorn kernels using your preferred method and measure out about 10 cups of popped popcorn. Remove any unpopped kernels.
  2. Divide the popcorn evenly into three large bowls, one for each color coating.
  3. Melt about 2.5 ounces of red candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth. Repeat for white and blue candy melts in separate bowls.
  4. Pour the melted red candy over the popcorn in the first bowl and gently fold and toss with a spatula until lightly coated. Spread the coated popcorn evenly on a lined baking sheet to cool and harden for about 10 minutes. Repeat with white and blue popcorn in the other bowls.
  5. While the coating is still warm and tacky, sprinkle festive sprinkles over each colored popcorn batch and press lightly to stick. Let cool completely to harden the candy melts.
  6. Combine all three colors in a large serving bowl or mix gently for a patriotic medley. Break apart any clusters before serving.

Notes

Do not overheat candy melts to avoid graininess or burning. Toss popcorn gently to avoid crushing. Work quickly as candy melts harden fast. To refresh popcorn crispness, reheat in a 250°F oven for 5 minutes. Optional: spray popcorn lightly with neutral oil and sprinkle sea salt before coating for balanced flavor.
