A quick and easy banana split treat that combines ripe bananas, creamy ice cream, and crunchy toppings for a delicious dessert perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe bananas, sliced lengthwise
  • 3 scoops vanilla ice cream (or your favorite flavor)
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
  • ½ cup whipped cream, chilled
  • 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (optional; toasted pecans or walnuts)
  • 23 maraschino cherries for garnish (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sprinkles or mini chocolate chips
  • Optional: pinch of cinnamon or drizzle of caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice 2 ripe bananas lengthwise into halves and lay them gently on serving dishes.
  2. Using an ice cream scoop, place 3 generous scoops of vanilla ice cream between the banana slices.
  3. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of chocolate syrup over the ice cream and bananas slowly to create a nice pattern.
  4. Whisk ½ cup of chilled heavy cream until soft peaks form, then dollop or pipe the whipped cream alongside the ice cream scoops.
  5. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of chopped toasted nuts (if using), and add mini chocolate chips or sprinkles for color and crunch.
  6. Top each banana split with 2-3 maraschino cherries and optionally dust with cinnamon or drizzle caramel sauce.
  7. Serve immediately for best freshness. If prepping ahead, assemble everything except whipped cream and toppings, cover, and refrigerate up to 1 hour.

Notes

Use ripe but firm bananas for best texture. Toast nuts in a dry pan over medium heat for 3-4 minutes to enhance flavor. Dip ice cream scoop in warm water before scooping for cleaner balls. Assemble right before serving to avoid soggy bananas and melting ice cream. For dairy-free, swap ice cream and whipped cream with coconut or almond milk alternatives and nuts with seeds if allergic.
