Peach Bourbon Jam - featured image

A small batch, easy homemade peach bourbon jam recipe that balances sweet peaches with a subtle warmth from bourbon, perfect for gifting or enjoying fresh.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups fresh peaches, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup bourbon whiskey
  • 1 tablespoon powdered fruit pectin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel the peaches by blanching them in boiling water for 30 seconds, then plunge into ice water to loosen skins. Dice into roughly 1/2-inch pieces (about 3 cups).
  2. In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of powdered pectin with 1/4 cup of the sugar. Stir well to break any lumps.
  3. In a medium heavy-bottomed saucepan, add diced peaches, remaining sugar (3/4 cup), lemon juice, cinnamon (if using), and butter. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the sugar-pectin mixture quickly, then increase heat to high. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil that can’t be stirred down, about 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly.
  5. Boil hard for 1 minute while stirring, then remove from heat.
  6. Off the heat, stir in 1/4 cup bourbon whiskey.
  7. Ladle the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving about 1/4 inch of headspace. Wipe rims clean and seal tightly.
  8. Let jars cool at room temperature, then refrigerate. The jam will thicken as it cools and is usually ready to enjoy within a few hours.

Notes

Use ripe but firm peaches for best texture. Adding bourbon off the heat preserves its aroma. To store longer, process jars in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes. Jam thickens more after refrigeration and flavors deepen if rested overnight.
